After a short orientation in Storms River Village, you’ll be driven through indigenous forest to the river entry point. From there, the Tubing in a Canyon Adventure unfolds within the dramatic Storms River Gorge:
Canyon entry: Launch into calm river pools after final safety checks, surrounded by steep forested cliffs.
Narrow gorge: Float between towering fern-covered walls rising up to 110m high as the canyon closes in.
Tubing & bouldering: Paddle long pools and navigate guided boulder crossings with short portages.
Optional jumps: Safe rock and tube jumps into deep pools where conditions allow.
Downstream journey: Travel approximately 3.5km through clear water, gentle rapids (water-level dependent), and untouched wilderness.
Finish: End at Storms River Mouth in Tsitsikamma National Park, deflate tubes, walk the suspension bridge boardwalk, change, and return to base.

Tubing in a Canyon
The Canyon Tubing tour is a full-day, 6-hour guided adventure
This tour is physically demanding and includes many bouldering sections where you carry your tube over rocks. It’s best suited to fit, adventure-seeking participants aged 12+. Families with younger children or beginners may prefer our Tubing & SUP Forest Adventure.
Wear clothing that will be comfortable underneath a wetsuit , sturdy water shoes (we have booties available for hire), a cap, sunscreen, and bring a small day bag for personal items. All safety gear is provided.
We offer two very different experiences. The SUP Forest Adventure is ideal for families and younger participants children 6 years upwards, While Canyon Tubing is better suited to active, adventure-seeking guests with a higher level of fitness 12 years and upwards
Canyon Tubing is weather and water-level dependent. Tours will only run under safe conditions, and may be cancelled if river levels are too high or if there is a risk of heavy rain.
Yes, lunch and refreshments are included, along with all safety equipment and professional guide support.
This is a highly active adventure with bouldering, swimming, and climbing. Participants should be reasonably fit and comfortable with carrying tubes over rocks and navigating rugged river terrain
